Add / ADHD: Differences are not deficits

The deadline for the ADD diagnosis / ADHD has changed several times. In 1980, the term "Attention Deficit Disorder 'came to be. It has changed slightly since then ', but the field is relunctant to change again because of how negative that would be (it could have an impact on advocacy and legislation, which was achieved through hard work ...)

The question is: Are there really shortages?

Well, sometimes there are shortages. Like when people can not pay attention.

But what ability hyperfocus?

People with ADD are often endowed with the ability to pay great attention to things that are important to them. They have special attention, which is much better than what the 'non-trim' to 'if they use their natural gift hyperfocus.

For us, 'This suggests that' difference 'attention' rather than 'deficit'.

The concept itself refers to the deficit and lack of pathology. Difference relates only to that, differences.

Recognizing this difference is important, because we advocate a change in paradigm Add 'towards the fort at diagnosis. One, which focuses on the gifts and differences, rather than a lack of deficits.

It is our contention that every ADD brain is brilliant at it. Definition of genius, as defined in Dictionary.com include: Gen-ius: - exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: Mozart's genius. - Natural ability or capacity, a strong inclination: a special talent for leadership. - Distinctive character or spirit of the definition of 'a genius' one must be different from the others.

People with ADD are different ...

... And we argue that the genius in each of them.

Now people who might have a problem with this statement will say that ADD affects people with varying levels of intelligence. So, there are some people with higher IQ with ADD, and there are people with average IQ who have add, and there are people with low IQ who have ADD.

Regardless of IQ 'any person with ADD has a genius inside.

ADD brain has tremendous capacity for these aspects of genius:

- Be unique: People with ADD often 'march to the beat of their own drum'. They bring a unique perspective since they are not 'programmed' answer 'and their ability to retain its unique nature, can lead to many gifts over a lifetime (if properly nourished)

- High level of creativity: when the mind receives information ADD, 'to handle that information, otherwise. This leads to high levels of creativity.

- Bright: When you use information differently than non-ADD people ADD'ers develop meaningful and useful knowledge

- Direct: people with ADD can be very direct, to the point and on target. This may be 'too' for people without ADD handle 'because they do not use the information presented so directly and accurately

- To act quickly: While many people suffer 'analysis paralysis', ADD mind is quick to take action and experiment' therefore believe that geniuses like Edison was ADD

- You can see the same thing differently than others: As mentioned above "someone with ADD can see the same material as the other and see very different things and draw very different conculsions

- Interpersonally intuitive: observational abilities of people with ADD can be very strong, and their intuition particularly strong. This can be a challenge for those who do not recognize it as a gift ', and it may be perceived as a lack of' beat '.

These characteristics result in a much more 'gifts to ADD, and the genius that is inside.
